Spay and Neutering Services

A medical procedure to sterilize cats and dogs; prevents various health issues later in their life.

Being a pet owner means you are in charge of another life, one of the major decisions you have to make is whether to spay or neuter your loyal companion. These are procedures that not only prevent unwanted pregnancies but also promote longevity and health. Spaying and neutering are standard procedures that require anesthesia; our team will do everything possible to ensure your loyal companion is safe. You can learn more about our anesthesia safety on our surgical services page.

Why should I consider spay/neuter surgery for my cat or dog?

Here are some benefits of the procedure:

  1. Discourages your loyal companion from running away or roaming. When in heat their hormones override good sense which causes them to wander off in search of a mate. After the procedure, that hormonal desire is no longer there.
  2. Reduce undesirable behaviours like yowling, crying, spraying furniture, aggression, and humping objects.
  3. Spaying and neutering limits overpopulation
  4. Eliminates the possibility of your cat or dog developing testicular, mammary, uterine, and ovarian cancer.

When can my cat/dog be spayed or neutered?

At 5 or 6-months-old is usually when cats and dogs will have their first heat cycle. Ideally, your loyal companion should be spayed or neutered around this time. The surgery can still be performed after this age if they are in good health.

How much does it cost to have the procedure done?

Spay/neuter surgery is relatively affordable, particularly when compared to other treatments for complications that can occur if it is not performed (e.g. emergency surgery for uterine infections). To get an updated cost breakdown, please contact us at 204-589-8381.
